Lamps are excellent Feng Shui enhancers used to improve education luck.

When choosing a lamp for your child’s study table you need to be mindful of a few things.

• The lamp you choose should have a smooth finish.
• Avoid lamps with sharp edges, angular shapes or those that look threatening or hostile.

I visited a friend recently who got in touch with me because they were having a spate of bad luck since moving to their new house.

We talked about the problems they had been facing since moving to this house and I explained how Feng Shui could help them. I had a look around the house to see if I could pick any problems.

There were a lot of things that were not right. The front door was aligned with the back door, there was a missing corner in the house which was quite prominent and a few other things. When we reached the Master bedroom, the first thing that I noticed was a painting on the wall above the bed, which I thought looked like a seascape, with a blue sky. It was a beautiful painting with shades of blue.

If you have been following my posts over the years, you will remember that I have talked about the dangers of having water above our head. Now this could mean having a pool on the roof of the house, a blue or black coloured roof, or just having a picture/painting above the bed. If you have water above you, it will definitely create lots of problems in your lives, as water tends to drown a person. I have seen a few houses with similar placement of paintings in the bedroom and its effect has been different for different people, ranging from financial problems to alcoholism.

A lot of times you might not even be aware that you have water above your head, if it is not a painting with actual water in it. It could just be a print with lots of blue or black colour, as these colours represent water element.

Another thing to keep in mind is that when things start going wrong because of the placement of items in our personal space, they don’t just work alone. If there are other Feng Shui problems in the house then whatever negative effect one issue might be creating, gets aggravated by the presence of other problems, and you might find yourself snowed under.

Have a look at your bedroom and see what you have above your bed. Is there a painting with water in it? Or do you have a blue or black roof? If you do have any of the above and have been feeling the brunt of it’s effects then you need to take action now. The best thing to do is to remove the painting straight away and if the roof is blue/black, then you need to paint it red or green. I know painting the roof can be an expensive job, but trust me when I say that it will save you a lot of heartache and problems in the long run. Think of it as an investment for a better life.

ave been wondering what goes on in a Feng Shui Consultation, then I will take you through the process very quickly.

• The first step is to meet with the client (pretty obvious, that one).
• After the preliminary introduction we get into the details of how Feng Shui works
• Then I usually ask them if there is any concerns or any areas of their lives that they want me to work on more, keeping in mind that when I do Feng Shui for someone I cover all aspects of life, so if someone says they just want their house Feng Shui’ed that actually covers everything anyway.
• I ask for some details, like their Date of birth, Time of birth, the house plan etc.
• Then I make a time to visit their home, (if I am meeting them somewhere else).
• I then go back and prepare their file with all the information written down for them so that they can go back to it as and when they feel the need.
• Once the file is ready, I meet up with my clients and explain everything that they need to do.
• I usually give them a month or so to apply the Feng Shui remedies and then I go back to check that everything is in order.

When you get Feng Shui done through me, you get the peace of mind, knowing that you have my support all through the ups and downs that life might throw at you and that you can get in touch with me and we can fix the problem.

I received this email a few days ago and thought of sharing it with all of you.

Dear Shelly,

I am writing to you because I cannot thank you enough for your help and the magic that you worked with your Feng Shui tips and remedies.

I just have to share my story with others so that people know and realise how Feng Shui can work wonders for them and help them even during the worst crisis of their lives.

My 18 year old daughter was studying in the first year of Medical school in a reputed college overseas. Everything seemed to be running smoothly until that fateful day when my mother-in-law called and told us that  our daughter had gone out in the evening and had not returned.

Our whole world came crashing down. A million thoughts crossed our minds. We flew to be near her and started looking for her. A few days passed but we still had not found her. There are a few things one should keep in mind when looking at buying a new bed.

• A bed made of wood is one of the best choices for a bedroom.

• Make sure the mattress is supportive and comfortable, not just for a good night’s sleep but for support in life too. Avoid using a second hand or a hand-me-down mattress as it will come with the energy of the previous owner.

• It is always preferable to have a solid bed head as it provides good support when you are asleep. Beds with rounded or rectangular bed heads are definitely preferable over beds with no bed heads or with brass or metal ones. If you do have a bed with a brass bed head then make sure you place it right next to the wall, so that the wall can provide support at night time.

• If you have a toilet or bathroom behind the bedroom wall, where the bed head is, then do keep a gap between the bed head and the wall. You should avoid placing the bed next to a bathroom wall.

• Make sure the area under the bed is kept clear and is cleaned regularly so that the energy stays vibrant.

It is the first day of spring in Australia and what a gorgeous day it is. The sun is shining, birds are chirping and the flowers are blooming. It is also a perfect day to open up all the windows and doors, to let the yang sunshine in.

It is time to get your body moving again, (if you have been hibernating through the winter months), and getting the much needed vitamin D too. Exercise helps improve our physical health as well as clears the mental clutter that we tend to carry with us all the time. You can use this time to sort things out in your head and get rid of the unwanted, worrying thoughts and putting plans into action. If you are a person who tends to over think things, then you can use this time to clear your head or talk to a friend/partner and see what you can do about the things you are worrying about. If there is a way to fix the problem then take the necessary steps, but if you feel you have done what you could, then leave the rest to the Universe/God. If you develop a positive mindset and let go of things, you will find that everything will turn out just fine. Remember, you are the only person who can change your reality. The first step towards it is to change your thinking and to choose your words very carefully. Our thoughts and words are really powerful. You just have to start being mindful of them and soon you will start noticing the difference it can make in your life. And what better day to do so than today.

You can also start thinking of spring cleaning your home. Give away things you no longer need/use to charity or put it for sale. Move things around and change the energy of every room. By doing so you create room for better things to come into your life and your life gets more organised and smooth over time.

Garage is an important part of a house. Most houses usually have a built in garage attached to it. Garage space isn’t considered an important room according to Feng shui, as we do not spend a lot of time there, even though it is a room which we cannot do without in our day to day life. We do use the space on a regular basis. Every time we take our car out or park it in the garage, we are activating the energy. The energy here is more ‘Yang’ than ‘Yin’, but it is unsettled energy. Garages are considered as vacant rooms, which have no Feng Shui substance, no stability. Garages can double up as store rooms as well, in which case it might accumulate clutter over time, and create stagnant energy as well.

Ideally garages should be built away from the house. If you do not have to room to do so, or do not like the idea of having it away from the house, then it should be placed in a sector where there are negative stars ( a Feng shui expert will be able to guide you through during the planning process). If a garage is made in a sector where there are auspicious stars then that would be considered as a waste of lucky space. Every house has certain good areas and certain bad areas, based on the placement of stars. We can use this information to our benefit by placing rooms in those areas where the good stars reside. By doing so we activate the good luck and the residents of that house will find that everything works out really well for them, without much effort on their part.

Let’s look at a house which has a bedroom on the first floor, with the garage underneath the bedroom. Now that you have an understanding about the energy connected to garages in Feng Shui, I would like to ask you a question. Do you think the person sleeping in this bedroom will have good Feng Shui? I think you know the answer will be ‘No’. The room above the garage is considered to be seriously lacking in support. It lacks in good foundation and can lead to restless sleep and health problems.

So how do we remedy this problem? The best solution to this problem would be to move to another room. But what if you do not have a spare room? Well, in that case we can try and improve/strengthen the Feng Shui of the bedroom so that the person sleeping there does not feel the negative effects of the garage as much.

• We need to create grounding energy in the bedroom which can be done by placing crystals in the bedroom or by using rugs with earthy tones.
• Keep the bedroom clean at all times.
• Create a calm and serene atmosphere in the bedroom.
• Use essential oils to improve the quality of air.
• Make sure the garage is clutter free. Pack things neatly in boxes and store them nicely.
• You can leave a light on in the garage overnight to strengthen/energise the space.
• You can leave a radio on in the garage as well.
• Take extra care of your health by exercising regularly and eating healthy foods.

The best thing I like about Feng Shui is that there is always a way around a problem. By using the tips we can really improve our situation, without having to take any drastic actions.
