Feng Shui tip for improving business

This Feng Shui Tip is for all those who own a business or work in offices where meetings are held on a regular basis.

Circular or round tables are the best shaped tables to hold meetings as they allow the energy to flow smoothly and harmoniously around the table, helping achieve more cooperation among staff members. It also brings lucky outcomes for the decisions made, especially decisions regarding increasing sales and marketing opportunities.

So yes!!! Go for a round table conference instead of a rectangular one 😉

If you have a square or rectangular table at work then make sure you do not sit at the corner of the table. Any pointed/sharp edge or corner will send out negative energy towards you. You can easily fix this problem by moving your chair slightly, so that you are not sitting right in front of the edge of the table.

I have always loved the idea of having walls and walls of bookshelves in the study. But once I started reading about Feng Shui I had to adjust/tweak my ideas a little bit to fit in with principles of balance and harmony which is the cornerstone of Feng Shui. It didn’t mean I had to stop doing things I enjoyed or liked, it just meant that I had to keep the principles of Feng Shui in mind while buying and placing things I liked.

Once you understand the basic principles of Feng Shui you can then use your creativity and imagination to create an environment that you love and appreciate.

I feel that it is very easy to disregard an idea or theory when you do not understand the basis of the premise, but once you try it and start seeing the results then you understand its importance.

Open bookshelves are not considered good Feng Shui. Open bookshelves behind you or around you, can be very harmful. They send cutting, negative energy towards you which is considered unlucky and can be dangerous for the person as well, resulting in bad health, losing their importance at work and can also lead to the loss of job.

Does this mean that you cannot have open bookshelves in your home or office? The answer is ‘No’. It just means that you need to be aware of how the open bookshelves can affect you and what you can do to safeguard your well being.

So what can you do if you have open bookshelves at home or work?

Here are some remedies to fix the problem of open shelves.

• The best thing to fix this problem is to cover up the open shelves by putting doors on them. If that is not possible then try and put a curtain or a screen in front of the shelves, especially when you are sitting and working in that room,
• You can move the shelves to another room or you can move to another room,
• You can buy new shelves with doors on them.
• You can place the books sitting flush with the shelves so as to make them less threatening.

The idea is to not sit and work/study with open shelves pointed at you all the time. The more time one spends in these rooms, the more long lasting it’s effect will be on the person.

The best shape for a house is either a square or a rectangle as that means that all the corners are present, thus meaning that your life will not be missing out on any of the aspirations that each corner brings with it.

If you remember each direction brings us some kind of luck. For example, East brings health luck, Southeast brings wealth luck, North brings career luck, Southwest brings marriage/love and family luck etc.

If you live in a house which is U-shaped, L shaped, H shaped or T shaped then your house will have a few missing corners. The best thing to do to fix this problem is to try and cover the areas that are missing by putting a room there or by putting a roof. This can be a tedious exercise and might not be possible for everyone because of budgetary constraints or due to the local council rules.

If you live in a house with missing corners then you can remedy it by putting a bright light on the wall that has the missing corner.

Make sure that you leave the light on for at least a few hours everyday. Light creates yang energy and thus activates the area which is missing.

You can use this remedy in any corner but if you would like to see which corner is missing in your house and thus, which life aspiration is being affected because of the missing corner, you can stand in the centre of your house with a compass and work out all the eight directions. Once you know all the directions, see where the missing corner is? You will be able to see which part of your life is suffering or being negatively hit because of the shape of your house.

Our immediate space/environment can have a huge impact on the quality of our life. This might be a strange idea for someone who doesn’t know how Feng Shui works but for those who are familiar with Feng Shui and have seen its fantastic results, it makes a lot of sense.

Southwest is the love and relationship direction in Feng Shui.

The elements associated with Southwest are Earth and Fire.

Some examples of Earth element are ceramic, crystals, glass, stones etc.

Examples of Fire element include candles, lamps, chandeliers etc.

The good colours for Southwest direction are Reds, Pinks, Yellows and Browns.

When you activate/energise the Southwest corner of your living room or family room by placing something made of Earth element or by using the good colours, your love life and your relationship with your spouse, family and friends starts improving.

Even though Feng Shui is a Chinese Philosophy you don’t have to choose the Chinese remedies if you are not comfortable with it. You can use items from your own culture which are representative of love. You can also just use the elements and colours related to each direction and activate those corners to get amazing results.

If you are looking at improving your relationship with your spouse/partner, then place a red cushion in the Southwest, or you can place a red or yellow ceramic lamp there. You can also place a couple of love birds, ideally made of crystal or ceramic.

I would like to wish all of you a very Happy Deepavali, which is held not only in India but all over the world.

Diwali or Deepavali is also known as the Festival of Lights, and was celebrated yesterday.

Diwali is a good time to clean and paint the house, renewing the energy of the house and getting it ready for another year of good luck and prosperity.

People celebrate Diwali by lighting up candles, Diyas (small earthen bowls with a wick and oil) or electric lights, inside and outside their houses. There is an exchange of gifts among families and friends. On the night of Diwali people get together and enjoy the festivities by praying to Goddess Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth and property, enjoy fireworks, followed by dinner and sweets.

Diwali signifies the victory of good over evil, hope over despair, knowledge over ignorance and the victory of light over darkness.

I hope this festival brings lots of cheer, happiness, prosperity and good luck to all of you too.

Feng Shui Tip: Missing corner and it’s remedy

Do you know that Southeast is the wealth corner of every house.

If the Southeast corner of your house is missing or afflicted in any way, (it could be because of the shape of your house or due to a bathroom/toilet there), then wealth luck will be hard to come by. Any wealth that you make will be short lived.

There are a few things that you can do to turn around your wealth luck.

• You can remedy this situation by placing a big healthy plant in the missing Southeast corner. This plant can be placed either indoors or outdoors. By doing so you activate the corner.

• You can also install a bright light inside or outside the house, (where the missing corner is), and leave it on all night or for at least a few hours every night.
• Another remedy for this problem is to place a mirror on the wall which is towards the missing corner. When using this tip make sure to follow the taboos related to mirror in Feng Shui.

I started reading about Feng Shui about 18 years ago. I found it very interesting and easy to apply. Over the years I applied the basic Feng Shui tips around the house, never really going deeper into the various layers and formulas.

Had I known what I know now, I would have pushed myself to learn more or I would have definitely used the services of a Feng Shui Consultant. Isn’t hindsight a wonderful thing?

Life has had its ups and downs for me too, which I thought was a normal part of living. But my perception of what is normal and what we can achieve has changed a lot since I started using Feng Shui.
