Feng Shui Tip: How to calculate your Kua number

I am sharing an older post for those who don’t know how to calculate their Kua number. You can find out your Kua number by following the steps in this post. 
In one of my earlier posts I talked about four auspicious directions and four inauspicious directions based on your Kua number. Today I will show you how to calculate your Kua number to find out your most favourable compass directions. 

This formula uses the Chinese year of birth to work out your Kua number. If you were born before February 4th then you need to deduct one year from your year of birth to get the equivalent Chinese year. If you were born after February 4th, then you do not need to make any changes to your year of birth. For example, if your birthday falls on the 10 of January 1981, then you will use 1980 as your year of birth.
For Males:
Take the last two digits of your year of birth and add them together. Keep adding the till you get a single number. Deduct this number from 10 if you were born before 2000, and from 9 if you were born after 2000. This will give you your Kua number. 

For example, if you are a male born in 1972. We add the last two numbers together- 7+2= 9. Then we deduct it from 10. 10-9= 1. So your Kua number is 1.
For Females: 
Take the last two digits of your year of birth and add them together. Keep adding them till you get a single number. Add 5 to this number if you were born before 2000, add 6 if you were born after 2000. Keep adding till you get a single digit. This will give you your Kua number.

For example, if you are a female born in 2002. We add the last two numbers together- 0+2= 2. Then we add it to 6. 2+6= 8. So your Kua number is 8.

Do you know you can choose your car colour using Feng Shui? The general rule is to use the Kua number to work out the personal element that is good for you and then find its representative colour. If you know your Kua number then all you have to do is look up your good colour and next time you are planning to buy a car, you can use this guide to get a colour that is good for you. Here is a list of all the Ka numbers and their relevant colours.

Peach blossom has been considered a powerful symbol of lasting love by the Chinese. We can activate our Peach blossom luck to improve marriage and love luck. If you have been struggling to find love or sustain a relationship, then you can activate your Peach blossom luck. Peach blossom luck is activated by using the Chinese Astrological animal signs. 

As you know, there are 12 Chinese astrological animal signs: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Boar. Each of these animal signs have a Peach blossom animal related to it. Here is a list of all the Animal signs and their Peach blossom signs.

Now that you know your Peach blossom sign, you need to display it in your home and to that you need to find an image of the sign. Make sure you get an image that you really like. The quality of images displayed in your home have a direct bearing on the quality of your life. If you are going to activate your Peach blossom animal sign, then make sure you get a good quality image. The energy connected to this image will get attached to your energy and will create conditions for someone special to materialise in your life. 

You should place the Peach blossom animal in your personal animal direction. So, if your animal sign is Boar, then you can place a symbol/image of Rat in the North-west direction (North-west is the direction of the Boar). You can shine a bright light on the Peach blossom sign to activate it even more.

East is a Wood sector according to Feng Shui and Wood represents growth energy.  When you place Wood and Water in the East of your house you activate the good energy of that sector. Try and place a water feature, like a bubbling water fountain, a pond or a pool in the East of your house to take advantage of the growth energy of this sector. Water produces Wood in the five element cycle and its presence in the East sector helps every family member to benefit from the growth energy. Children will do well in studies, businesses will be successful and the members will achieve new heights.

Try and avoid having too much Metal element in the East sector. East is also the universal direction of health according to Feng Shui. When we place too much Metal here (it could be in the form of a big garden sculpture or decorative objects in the room), we are destroying the Wood element of East, as Metal destroys Wood according to the element cycle. Look around your house or garden and see what you have in the East sector. If you have been going through a lot of health problems, chances are you have inadvertently placed too much Metal in that corner.
Do remember that when we apply Feng Shui, we use a lot of layers and we look at the interaction of the different layers to find a solution to the problem. There could be a lot of ‘other reasons’ for sickness in the house, based on the other layers. The Flying Star chart of the house gives us a clearer and deeper understanding of what might be going on in a person’s life. You will be surprised at the accuracy with which we can tell you what could be going wrong in your life today or over the years, just by looking at the charts applicable to your house. The good news is that we can fix a lot of things (by using Feng Shui and the five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water). Once we apply the right element in the right corner of your living space, we control the impact of the negative stars. 

This might sound too complicated to you and I don’t blame you at all. At times it can be very complicated for me too. Some houses can be quite complex to work with, in which case I have to look deeper and think harder to find a solution. You are better off getting an experienced Feng Shui Consultant in if you have been going through difficult times. You can start applying the basic principles in your home just by following these tips. Once you start, you will definitely feel and see the improvement in your health and overall luck. I love listening to wind chimes and have a beautiful, melodious wind chime near the entrance. I hope you enjoy listening to the chimes as much as I do. 

​​Wind chimes are used by Feng Shui practitioners for a number of different reasons. Wind chimes can be used as Feng Shui Enhancers as well as Feng Shui Cures. When placed in the North, wind chimes create auspicious energy which helps with career luck. Wind chimes can be used to create yang energy in places which are too yin. As a Feng Shui cure, wind chimes can be used to fix the negative impact of protruding corners and beams. They can also be used to subdue negative stars like the sickness star and the dreaded five yellows. This year the sickness star is in the Northwest (as discussed in the last post), so you can place an all-metal wind chime in the Northwest of your house or in the Northwest part of your room. The main thing to keep in mind while using wind chimes is that they should be placed in such a way that you do not walk or sit under it. The rods of the wind chimes should be hollow to allow the energy to move through it and thus, reach the intended corner.

We normally suggest placing wind chimes in the West sector of a house, but this year West has the Number 3 Star, which is also known as the Quarrelsome Star. This star can lead to law suits and legal complications. It is best to remove the wind chimes from the West (this year) as the noise will aggravate the negative situation. You can have metal in the West but it should be quiet/still metal instead of moving metal. Metal will help subdue the impact of the Quarrelsome star.
