Feng Shui Tip: Auspicious and Inauspicious directions based on your Kua number.

I am hoping that by now all of you have worked out your Kua number. So let’s go deeper and see which directions are good for you, which direction brings you success, health, love, and personal development, and which directions to avoid. Once you know all your good directions try and face one of them all the time. If you are looking at improving your health then you should face your health direction most of the time, if it is love you are looking for then face your love direction while working, eating etc. Remember that Feng Shui is all about energy. When you face your good direction it brings good energy to you. Likewise, try and avoid your bad or inauspicious directions as they bring bad energy to you. 

The first four directions in the chart below are the good/auspicious directions for each Kua number and the last four are the inauspicious directions. Try and avoid facing any of your bad directions. If you are stuck and have no choice then you can face the bad luck direction, as it is the least harmful out of the four. As you can see the last one, the total loss direction, is the worst direction and one should avoid facing it at all cost.

By just following these simple steps you will be able to improve your overall luck as well as health, relationships and personal development. There is one thing that you need to keep in mind though. Every year the stars move. Some stars bring good luck with them, like wealth, romance luck etc., and some of them bring bad luck, like ill health, relationship problems etc. We usually recommend not to face the direction which has the negative star, even if it is your success direction. You have three other good directions to use in such a situation. For example, in 2017, South has the Five Yellows, a negative star and is not a good direction to face. So if your Kua number is 3 and your success direction is South, I would recommend facing either North, Southeast or East direction instead. Feng Shui needs to be updated yearly as every year the stars move and depending on their character, they bring good or bad energies to every direction. Once you understand this, you can apply the yearly cures, (which I will be sharing with all of you soon), and stay safe even in the face of adversity.

Feng Shui Tip: How to calculate your Kua number

In one of my earlier posts I talked about four auspicious directions and four inauspicious directions based on your Kua number. Today I will show you how to calculate your Kua number to find out your most favourable compass directions. 
This formula uses the Chinese year of birth to work out your Kua number. If you were born before February 4th then you need to deduct one year from your year of birth to get the equivalent Chinese year. If you were born after February 4th, then you do not need to make any changes to your year of birth. For example, if your birthday falls on the 10 of January 1981, then you will use 1980 as your year of birth.

For Males:

Take the last two digits of your year of birth and add them together. Keep adding the till you get a single number. Deduct this number from 10 if you were born before 2000, and from 9 if you were born after 2000. This will give you your Kua number. 
For example, if you are a male born in 1972. We add the last two numbers together- 7+2= 9. Then we deduct it from 10. 10-9= 1. So your Kua number is 1.

For Females: 

Take the last two digits of your year of birth and add them together. Keep adding them till you get a single number. Add 5 to this number if you were born before 2000, add 6 if you were born after 2000. Keep adding till you get a single digit. This will give you your Kua number.
For example, if you are a female born in 2002. We add the last two numbers together- 0+2= 2. Then we add it to 6. 2+6= 8. So your Kua number is 8.

I have calculated the Kua for a female born in 1972 as well, to show the difference between the two.

Tapping into different directions for different kinds of success

Different directions have a different meaning for every person and bring a different kind of luck for each person based on their date of birth. So if you are looking at improving a particular aspect of your life then you can focus on that direction and activate it.

• If you are looking at improving your success at work then you should face your Sheng Chi or Success direction. You can face this direction when you are negotiating terms in important meetings too.

• If you are taking exams or studying for exams, then you should try and face your Fu Wei or the Personal Development direction. 

• If you are looking at improving your love life, then face your Nien Yen or Romance direction. 

• For improving your health sit or sleep facing your Tien Yi or health direction.

I will share my earlier post from Facebook on how to calculate your Kua number, and how to find your good and bad directions, based on your Kua number. Once you have your Kua Number, you can then work out your directions. Memorise your good directions and then all you have to do to activate them, is to face one of your good direction. Use a good compass to work out all the directions in your house, office and business as well. You can use a normal Western compass or a Feng Shui compass too.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you do not need to flip the directions if you live in the ‘Southern Hemisphere’. All the directions work in the same way, be it the Northern Hemisphere or the Southern Hemisphere. So if your Success direction is ‘South’ then just find the ‘South’ of your Office or room, and face it to activate your Success Luck. 

Remember that Feng Shui starts working the moment you start applying it. If you want to change your life around then find your good directions and start applying them from today and see your luck improve.

Office Politics and Feng Shui 

Feng Shui is a holistic practice which helps bring harmony in the living space, be it at home or at work, and helps improve the quality of life of the person living in that space. It can be used to improve ones’ health, finances, love life, relationships, career etc. 

I was recently contacted by a lady who was going through a rough time at work, due to office politics. She was quite disheartened with the whole situation and was at her wits end. She was unable to understand why all of a sudden everything was going wrong at work. Her friends and colleagues were ignoring her. She was feeling quite alienated and was keen to try Feng Shui to see if it would help her. 

We caught up for a chat and after getting all the details I got busy preparing her file. Once the file/information was ready, I went to her house and explained everything to her. Even though my main priority was fixing her immediate problem i.e. the work situation, I worked on improving all aspects of her life, i.e. health, wealth, relationships, success etc.

After explaining how everything worked and all that she needed to do, I gave her a few weeks time to apply my suggestions. We were in touch through that period and I answered her queries and clarified any doubts that came up. When we apply Feng Shui, we use five elements to enhance the good directions and subdue the bad directions. These five elements include, wood, fire, earth, metal and water. These cures start working as soon as they are placed in the right direction. When a client says that they haven’t really felt any difference after applying my recommendations, that is a clear indication to me that they haven’t actually applied the cures I had suggested. I do suggest to keep your eyes and ears open when you place the cures, so that you notice the improvement/positive change taking place. There will be times when you think that it is merely a coincidence but trust me, it is Feng Shui at work and giving you a sign.

I caught up with my client for a coffee, after about a few weeks, to see how things were going. I was very keen to hear what she had to say about her work situation and her life in general. She was looking happy and relaxed, which was a good sign. After the initial pleasantries we got talking about her work. She said that she was really amazed at the improvement in her work environment. She had applied most of the cures at work and at home, and the results were amazing. Her friends were actually making an effort to talk to her again. Her colleagues were being nice to her too. She said her boss had been in touch with her recently and was very happy with her work. She was looking forward to going away to the Head Office to help out with their staff issues. I was very happy to hear that things were improving for her and that she was satisfied with the results. 

I love hearing success stories from my clients. It gives me a boost of confidence every time. And it makes me even more committed to improving my knowledge of Feng Shui so that I can help others improve their lives. Here’s to more success stories and more happy clients.

When looking at improving the Feng Shui of your space, it is a good idea to develop a sensitivity to the environment, so that you can sense the energy of a house. Each house has its own energy. It can be happy energy or sad energy. You can usually feel the energy of a house when you step into the house. If it lifts your spirit then it obviously has happy energy. On the other hand, if it creates a sense of unease, then it definitely has sad or stale energy. If you are buying a house then it is a good idea to enquire about the background of the last owner, as this will give you a clue to the quality of their life and the energy of the home. Every house/building tends to accumulate the energy of its residents. If the people living in a house are happy and energetic, then the energy of the house will be the same. If you are planning to buy a new house and want to go house hunting then try and do it in the morning, preferably in the early hours of the morning. You should never go house hunting in the evening or night time. Feng Shui consultants are generally very particular about this rule. They will not undertake Feng Shui Site Consultation after noon. If you are interested in a house then you can request the real estate agent to show the house in the morning. If you start your house hunting in the evening or night time, it tends to create inauspicious energy and it affects the house hunting process negatively.
