A word on Water features

Feng Shui Tip: Water features

Water is used in Feng Shui to activate prosperity luck or wealth luck. When we talk about using water to activate any corner of our home, we are usually talking about a Yang or moving water feature. This movement of water can be created by using a pump or having fish in the water. For best results the water features should be kept clean and water should flow freely. If the water feature isn’t working properly, then make sure you fix it or get a new one. Do make sure that the flow of water is facing inwards, implying money coming in.

I was at a client’s shop yesterday. I had Feng Shui’ed her shop about a couple of months ago and wanted to see how she was going. The reason she came to me was because she wanted to improve her business turnover. She had been struggling with her business for a while now and wanted to change that. She told me that she was still in the process of putting all the cures in place. She showed me her water feature and said that she had placed it where I had asked her to put it. I asked her if she was feeling any difference in the number of customers coming into her shop and her answer was “I am not sure yet”. Well I could tell that the water feature wouldn’t be making much of a difference for her, because the water in the water feature was only dripping a few drops, I couldn’t even call it a trickle. When we use a water feature, we need to make sure that the water flow is smooth and constant. If you see the pressure slowing down, you need to add more water, clean out the pipes and the pump, if need be. I explained this to her and told her the importance of ensuring that the water flow was constant. I am hoping that she will make sure that there is enough water in the bowl, the pump is working at its optimum level and the next time I visit her, her answer to my question will be a beaming “Yes, I can see the difference now.”

Feng Shui starts working as soon as we place the right cure in the right direction (The cures include the use of the five elements we have talked about earlier – Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water). The main thing to remember here is that you have to actually apply the cures to get results. Just thinking about it won’t help. Once you have applied the cures and you still feel that there is no change in your situation, then chances are that the cures haven’t been applied properly and you need to get in touch with me asap, so that we can remedy the situation. The other thing to remember is that even though Feng Shui starts working immediately, you might not be able to see the difference, but trust me, after about six months or so, when you look back at your situation, you will see the improvement. You just need to be patient and keep doing what you are doing.

Here’s to more prosperity for all of you.

Have a wonderful day.

Cheers.

Colour combinations in Feng Shuiย

Feng Shui Tip: Colour combinations

I talked about the use of different colours in different directions, yesterday. When we use these colours in the specific directions, we enhance the energy of the element of that direction. The energy of these elements interact with the environment as well. So when we use colours which are harmonious with each other, we create a harmonious environment, likewise, when the colours are not in harmony with each other, they produce a conflicting effect.

Here is a list of the harmonious as well as conflicting colour combinations.

Harmonious colour combinations

Blue and green – can be used in East and Southest

Green and Red – can be used in South

Red and Yellow – can be used in Southwest and Northeast

Yellow and Metallic colours – can be used in West and Northwest

Metallic colours and Blue – can be used in North

Conflicting colour combinations

Green and Metallic colours

Red and Blue

Red and Black

Red and Metallic colours

Green and yellow

You can use the auspicious colour combinations in your day to day life. Use it too decorate your home, you can use them while designing your calling card or your pamphlets etc.

Enjoy playing with colours.

Cheers.

Colour therapy in Feng Shui

Feng Shui Tip: Use of colour in Feng Shui

The theory of five elements is the basis of Feng Shui. These five elements are: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. We use these five elements all the time when we apply Feng Shui in our homes. Each of these elements have certain attributes which influence the different sectors of the compass. These elements also have a certain relationship with each other. This relationship can be either productive, exhaustive or destructive. When we apply Feng Shui, we keep these relationships in mind and usually use the productive cycle if we want to enhance a certain direction, and we use the exhaustive or destructive cycle when we want to subdue a negative element.

Each element has a colour representing it. For example, the element of Water is represented by the colour blue or black, Fire element is associated with the colour red, Wood element is associated with shades of green and brown, Earth element is associated with yellow and brown, and the Metal element is represented by white, gold, silver etc.

Once we know the different colours associated with each element, we can use those colours to enhance different sectors, along with the five elements. Let’s have a look at the different directions and their related colours.

North – Blue and Black

North East – Yellow and Brown

East – Green and Brown

South East – Green and Brown

South – Red

South West – Yellow and Brown

West – White, Gold and Silver

North West – White, Gold and Silver

As you go deeper and get a better understanding of the different cycles, you will be able to use a combination of colours for each direction based on the productive, exhaustive and destructive cycle.

I will cover the different combinations of colours in my next post. Until then, happy reading.

Have a wonderful day.

Cheers.

Pine trees in the garden

Feng Shui Tip: Pine trees

Pine trees are considered a symbol of good health and long life in Feng Shui. If possible, try and plant a Pine tree in the East corner of your garden. Just having Pine trees in the garden brings good luck to the residents of the house throughout the year.

You can also use the leaves of the Pine tree as incense. Place some pine leaves on some burning wood or coal, and walk around the house, offering it to the universe/cosmos. This is a simple but powerful ritual which helps remove obstacles in your life.

You can also grow pine trees at the back of your house, symbolically creating a mountain at the back, symbolising support in your life.

Feng Shui is very simple to apply, once you understand the basic principles, but at the same time it gets more complex as we go deeper. If you are a layman who has just started out, just follow these tips and you will start seeing the improvement in your life. If you want to turn around your life completely, then get in touch with me and I can guide you through the process with a personal consultation.

Career luckย

Feng Shui Tip: Career Luck

If you have been working hard to improve your career luck and are still finding it hard to reach the top of your game, then this Feng Shui Tip is for you.

To improve your career luck you need to focus on the Noth of your home or office. You can energise the North sector of your home (or office) by placing water element or metal element. You can hang a 6 rod metal wind chime or have a water feature in the North and it will benefit your career luck immensely. The water feature can be in the form of a small electric fountain, a pond with fish in it or a swimming pool. Do remember that the water we use in this sector has to be yang water or moving water. When you have moving water, your career moves forward/upwards too.

Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions regarding this post or any other queries regarding advancing your career. My email address is shellysingh168@gmail.com.

Wishing you success in your career.

Cheers.

Flowers in Feng Shui

I love having fresh flowers and plants in my home. I grew up with pots and pots full of gorgeous flowers and plants. There were a lot of pots because Dad was in the army and we had to move every few years, and the pots used to go with us on every posting. I still remember the days when Mum used to make beautiful flower arrangements for our house. She had won a lot of prizes for Flower arrangements at the Army Clubs too. She was and still is, an avid gardener. Her plants get a lot of TLC and that is the best thing one can do to create good Feng Shui around the house.

When we display fresh flowers in our house, we bring vibrant energy into the rooms. Plants and flowers represent growth luck and when we use them around our home or office, it creates growth energy, which helps increase business and work luck.

You can display fresh flowers or plants in the East or Southeast corner of your home or office. Make sure that the plants are healthy and vibrant. You can move the pots regularly to ensure that they get plenty of sunshine. If you are displaying flowers in your office or home, then make sure you change the water regularly to keep the flowers fresh, and throw out the flowers as soon as they start to show signs of wilting. Artificial flowers can be used too, if you find it too hard to maintain fresh ones.

Do remember that we do not put flowers or plants in the bedrooms, as it is considered too yang and can create problems with having a restful sleep at night.

Happy gardening.

Cheers.

Family Luck and the West

According to Feng Shui, West is the direction for children and creativity, and according to the Later Heaven arrangement, West is considered as the place of happy family. In order to have a happy and strong family, we need to protect and activate the West sector of our home. When we energise and protect the West sector, we not only create the energy of long life for the older members of the family, we also ensure good luck and happiness for the patriarch and matriarch.

We have talked about the various elements related to each direction and how it helps energise that corner in one of the earlier posts. West direction belongs to the Metal element. The colour related to this direction is white, gold, silver etc. You can activate this corner of your house by placing something made of either Metal or Earth here. You can display Chinese gold coins, or use the currency (gold coins) of your own country and activate this corner. You can display crystal balls here too, as Earth produces Metal in the productive cycle. If you have any wind chimes in this corner, I would recommend taking them off this year, as the Quarrelsome star and the Grand Duke of Jupiter are in the West in 2017, and we need to keep this area quiet.

By energising the West sector we ensure that the family is happy and healthy, and it stays together. Keep the energy of the west corner of your home fresh by keeping it clean, this ensures that the energy moves smoothly thus creating harmony for all the residents of the home.

Wishing all of you good relations and happiness.

Cheers.

Mindfulness explained

This saying has been taken from a book called ‘Zen Inspirations’ by Miriam Levering. It stresses the importance of being present in the moment, being mindful of what you are doing, every minute of the day. I hope you enjoy it and apply this Zen principle in your day to day life.

Cheers.

What are you grateful for?

Practicing gratitude might sound very simple but it is a very profound statement. Life is all about balance. When we receive something, we should ‘give’ thanks in return. It does not just mean thanking an individual when they give us something, it also means being grateful for every aspect of our life. Thanking the universe for all the opportunities we have, the roof above our heads, the food on our table, the loving relationships we have. If we do not acknowledge the gift of everyday living, we are taking things for granted.

The key thing to remember is that you need to ‘Practice‘ gratitude regularly. When you practice gratitude, you open up your life to receive more. All of us have so much to be grateful for. Let’s acknowledge all the blessings we have in our lives and be grateful for it. Another way of practicing this is by writing down a list of things you are grateful for and displaying it in your room, where you can see it regularly.

I use my Vision Board to remind myself of how fortunate I am and for all the blessings I have in my life. How do you remind yourself of your blessings? I would love to hear what you are grateful for in your life.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Love.

East group and West group people

Feng Shui Tip: East group or West group?

Do you know your Kua number? Are you an East group person or a West group person?

Do you know that every individual belongs to either an East group or a West group, in the world? The Year you are born in helps us decide whether you are an East group or a West group person.

You are an East group person if your Kua number is 1,3,4 and 9. If your Kua number is 2,5,6,7 and 8 then you fall in the West group. Generally speaking, people from the same group tend to be more compatible with each other. Once you know your group, you will find that the people you get along well with, belong to the same group as you do (Do remember there are other exceptions to this rule). If you need more information about it, send me a message and I will go into more detail about it.
Have a lovely weekend.

Cheers.
